🚌 Transportation

  • Round-trip shuttle service between the meeting point (Lanna Polytechnic College Chiang Mai parking lot) and the event venue.
  • Mae Taeng van and songthaew pick-up point Google Maps (map). Vehicles depart every 5 minutes between 13:00–16:00 hrs.
  • Event venue and return pick-up point Google Maps (map) from 20:45 onwards.

  • Travel time from the city is approximately 45–60 minutes.
  • Shuttle buses depart every 5 minutes between 13:00–16:00 hrs.
  • Children under 8 years old can enter for free (does not include seating sky lanterns krathongs food and souvenirs)

Sky lantern and krathong sales points There are 3 sales points within the event for the convenience of attendees.

Lanna costume rental/purchase service There are shops to rent and sell Lanna costumes within the event. Those who rent or purchase costumes at the event can participate in the Popular CNX Loy Krathong Sky Lantern Festival 2026 contest to win tickets for next year's event.

Photography service There is a photography service within the event to capture memorable moments throughout the festival (additional charges may apply depending on the service provider)

To ensure a safe and comfortable experience for all attendees the event has comprehensive safety measures and facilities in place including:

K9 Security Working Dog Division A security expert company with a team of K9 dogs on duty to enhance security standards and build confidence for attendees.

Photo Spots

  • 12 Zodiac Lantern Display Symbolizing birth years according to the Chinese calendar using 12 animals to represent each year and rotating every 12 years. It is believed that each person's personality character and life path will resemble their birth year animal.
  • Giant Krathong A vessel crafted to be floated on water on the full moon night of the 12th lunar month with a base made from banana stalks coconut shells or other natural materials decorated with flowers incense and candles to ask for forgiveness and worship the Goddess of Water (Phra Mae Khongkha).
  • Archways decorated with lanterns and "Tung" at various points. Lanterns are hanging or illuminating devices used for light and decoration a wisdom passed down through generations of Lanna people used to worship the Buddha and for auspiciousness.
  • Tung Archways "Tung" is a type of hanging flag in Lanna art and culture made from various materials such as fabric wood metal or paper for decoration or religious ceremonies.

Event gates open for the CNX Loy Krathong Sky Lantern Festival 2026

Attendees can present their E-Ticket to register receive souvenirs and a Welcome Drink and start enjoying the festival atmosphere from the afternoon.

Lanna Cultural Workshop Zone

Experience the charm of Lanna culture through workshops that allow everyone to participate hands-on and take their creations home as souvenirs.

Within the zone discover more than 13 workshops including soap carving handkerchief embroidery Pang Prateep Tung Sai Moo rabbit ear lanterns Tork Tung flower carving Chor Phaka Thai sweets krathong making garland stringing flower folding tie-dye handkerchiefs and fan painting.

All of these are free to join for all ticket holders throughout the event.

17:30 hrs. onwards

Lanna Grand Dinner Buffet

Enjoy a delicious Lanna-style dinner buffet by Peet Catering which has selected Northern Thai and popular dishes for attendees to taste amidst the atmosphere of the Yi Peng festival before the grand lantern release ceremony in the evening.

Lanna Cultural Performance

Experience the charm of Lanna civilization through cultural performances that reflect the beautiful way of life beliefs and traditions of the Lanna people with rotating performances on stage throughout the evening.

There are 3 cultural performance stages.

The event features performances on 4 stages simultaneously to showcase the unique identity of the Tai ethnic groups in Lanna. Each stage rotates 4 sets of performances throughout the activities.

  • Stage 1 : Tai-Yuan
  • Stage 2 : Tai-Lue
  • Stage 3 : Tai-Yai
  • Stage 4 : Tai-Khern

19:40 – 20:00 hrs.

Preparation ceremony for the sky lantern release

As the last light of day slowly fades attendees will proceed to the main ceremony area and take their seats in the designated zones to prepare for the sacred sky lantern release ceremony amidst the beautiful atmosphere of the Yi Peng night.

During this time everyone will experience valuable Lanna cultural performances.

Can I choose the date after purchasing the ticket?

Certainly! Each ticket clearly specifies the event date. You can choose to purchase tickets for November 24, November 25, or both days; prices are calculated separately.

Is there parking or a shuttle service available?

1. Participants must be at least 18 years old or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
2. Sky lanterns may only be released during the designated launch time announced by the event organizers.
3. Only lanterns provided or approved by the organizers are permitted for safety reasons.
4. Participants must follow all safety instructions and cooperate with event staff at all times.
5. The organizers reserve the right to postpone, suspend, or cancel the event due to weather or safety concerns.
6. Participants are responsible for their personal belongings, and the organizers are not liable for any loss, damage, or injury resulting from negligence.
7. By attending the event, participants agree to comply with these terms and acknowledge that photos and videos taken during the event may be used for promotional purposes.

Precautions

  • No alcoholic beverages allowed.
  • Bringing outside fireworks or pyrotechnics into the event is prohibited.
